There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gaming is illegal. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven table games.
